Where is that cooler weather?
Well it is September and the muggy mid-Atlantic weather still persists. I am ready for fall temperatures!
To bring you up to speed, we switched servers on August 28th and aside from a brief email glitch it went fantastically! We now have our back to school sneakers and the outages and crashes are hopefully a thing of the past. We tested it on the 31st when we were slammed with traffic. They were reading about the guy jumping from the sixth floor of the hospital
and also the alleged shenanigans in Circuit Court. And a huge shout out to the great guys at Meridian Design Group who handled the migration. As I said last month-- capable, responsive, thorough, affordable and local. Check them out for any IT needs!
Make sure you tune into WRNR, 103.1 on Fridays. We now have a relationship with 103.1 WRNR radio. Each Friday, we are on the air with Alex Cortright talking about the places to be for the upcoming week.

Upcoming Events
One of the best things about living in Anne Arundel County is that there is ALWAYS something going on for EVERYONE! We try to have the inside scoop on all of the events and if you are a fan on Facebook or a follower on Twitter, you know we often will be giving away free tickets! Hint, hint!
But if you are looking for something a bit more low-key, check out the 2nd Annual Harvest Beer Festival at Homestead gardens on the 15th! The festival will feature over 50 beers to sample along with brewer's talks, food, entertainment, and much more. And as a subscriber, you can save $10 on the price of admission on as many tickets as you want to buy! Just use the Discount Code EYE when you buy your tickets online!
Looking to sample the culinary tastes of the area? The Maryland Seafood Festival
will be held at Sand Point State Park this coming weekend! This two day event will blow your taste buds away with crabs, seafood, oysters, and more! There are plenty of children's activities along with tasting tents and some great craft beers. It is a perfect "end of the summer" festival to celebrate all that is the Chesapeake Bay!

We are so appreciative of our sponsors. Of course we solicit advertisers and often we are approached by companies and organizations to help spread their message. What you may not know is that we are very particular and we do not accept advertising from just anyone. We truly support local businesses and believe that they are the core of a vibrant economy. We also believe that these advertisers are the cream of the crop (of course they have exquisite taste in advertising as well) and encourage you to support them, click their ads and check them out. HARVEST BEER FESTIVAL--
The annual Harvest Beer Festival is coming on September 15th and will feature brewer talks, local craft beers, and of course all of the fall finery at Homestead Gardens! This year, the event will benefit the Chesapeake Bay Trust! Come on out for a fun day! MARYLAND SEAFOOD FESTIVAL -- This is one of the staple festivals of the area. There is no place better to sample the bounty of the Bay than at Sand Point State Park in Annapolis. Food, music, beer, kids, events, cooking demonstrations vendors, this festival on September 8th and 9th has it all!
CHARM CITY MUSIC FESTIVAL -- On September 15th, Weezer will be rolling into Baltimore along with dozens of other acts as the Charm City Music Festival lights up the harbor in Baltimore. This year will feature a special EDM (Electronic Dance Music) tent featuring some of the region's best DJs.
HOMESTEAD GARDENS--Homestead is one of the most community oriented businesses you will find. In addition to their business, they support the local Boy Scouts, the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund, and much more!
ZACHARY'S JEWELERS--A staple of Main Street for decades and more recently Severna Park. When they suffered a fire, the community came together for them. And they have been giving back ever since.
ISLAND EYE CARE --
Do you have a photo from 5th grade wiht some pretty scary eyeglasses? If you've ever worn a pair of ugly glasses, now is your chance for payback. Dr. Tim Barr and the folks over at Island Eye Care (you can find them on Housley Road, by the Annapolis Mall, or on Kent Island) are running a contest this month to see who can come up with a picture of themselves in the ugliest glasses. The winner will take home an iPad (get it? "eye"Pad) and get the last laugh. If you think you're in contention, head to their Facebook page ( http://www.facebook.com/IslandEyecareMD
), give them a like, and get all the details on how to enter. And if all those old photos of yourself inspire you to upgrade your frames, pay Dr. Barr a visit. He's got a great selection of some of the best eyewear brands on the market as well as a complete line of brand name sunglasses. RAMS HEAD ON STAGE--From a small bar to a multi location entertainment conglomerate, Rams Head offers it all. Fine food and the best entertainment in the area. They brought a wildly successful Silopanna Music Festival to the area in August and consistently feature top talent! ANNAPOLIS FALL HOME SHOW
-- This perennial spring favorite is coming back this fall to the National Guard Armory on Hudson Street on September 29th and 30th. If you have a project for your house, just looking for ideas, or are looking for a fun afternoon out, swing on by. This year will feature Nicole Curtis from DIY's Rehab Addict!
THE CITY OF ANNAPOLIS--Yes, despite our editorial criticism at times, they are sponsoring us with their Circulator Trolley initiative. If you are unaware of the FREE trolley, you owe it to yourself to check it out (click the ad). Discounted parking at Knighton or Park Place and a free ride around town--soon to come to Eastport and West Annapolis!
GLOW SALON
-- Summer might be over, but you can still treat yourself to a little break over at Glow Salon, Day Spa & Cafe. Right now, they're running their own version of a Groupon - called a "Glowpon". Check out their website
for great deals on facials, massages, mani-pedis, and bikini waxes. The deal is good from now until October 17, so act fast to take advantage of these great savings! In addition to all these great spa deals, Glow is famous for its full service hair salon and as the go-to place for anyone who wants to go blond. During the month of September, they're holding a contest on their Facebook page and the winner will get to go blond for free. Do blonds have more fun? Here's your chance to find out for yourself! Head over to Glow's page on Facebook for all the details on the contest, and stay tuned to hear who the winner is! CHESAPEAKE BAY TRUST--They are smaller than the "other" organization, but have no problem getting their boots dirty and really making a difference in the health of the bay. FLOYD'S BARBERSHOP
--OK, so they are a national chain of uber cool barber shops. But did you know they had their start in Bowie? Yes, three brothers developed the concept and ran with it. Now they are well represented here in the County with stores in Annapolis and Crofton. SCHOONER WOODWIND--Annapolis is a sailing town and there is no better way to see it than from the water on the deck of one of the Woodwinds. If you own your own boat, it's better--no work! The Woodwinds offer specialty sails, group sails, and a romantic boat and breakfast package. Check it out! MIDDLETON TAVERN, OBRIEN'S OYSTER BAR, OB's PRIME, AND ANNAPOLIS UNPLUGGED
--These are the quintessential Annapolis dining establishments run by the the Hardestys who have been in Annapolis for generations. Annapolis Unpplugged is a series of very local (and upcoming) live music brought into their restaurants--often coupled with a WRNR event! The food is consistently great as is the service.
WELLNESS HOUSE--If cancer has ever touched you, a loved one, or a friend, please learn more about this non-medical care facility for cancer patients and their families.
PIPPY PICTURES--Big smiles, beaming faces--these are two of the hallmarks of Lisa Dierolf and Pippy Pictures. From family portraits to casual shots to weddings and special moments, Lisa has the perfect eye. Check out her portfolio and click the ad!
INTEGRITY WOOD FURNISHINGS--
Unique, custom, and unusual are three words that typically describe what John Kraft from Integrity Wood Furnishings does. He takes little pieces of wood and fashions them into larger masterpieces brimming with color. One hangs over my fireplace right now!
103.1 WRNR--We love WRNR. It is our local awesome music station who is always partnering to sponsor events in town. We love them even more because they allow us to come on the air on Fridays and talk about what is happening in the area! And re really love that they have the technology to make us sound a little less Fran Drescher-esque! Give them a listen, they are a perfect match!
