Just do it! Not Nike; The GREAT GIVE!

OUR MESSAGE

Face it, we live in a rich area! I am not talking about wealth or dollars. I am not even talking about that fancy BMW that cut me off this morning on Forest Drive!

I'm talking about the hundreds of non-profits that add so much to our collective community.

Very few of us have all that we need in life and the non-profits in Anne Arundel County fill the missing needs. It may be the need to volunteer or find a place to donate money. Or, it may be a need for food or shelter.

Literacy, food, shelter, addiction, ecology, medicine, volunteerism, the list goes on.

Now, for the second year, nearly 200 non-profits need your help on

ONE DAY

to give to the Great Give.

Personally, I support several non-profits throughout the year, but during the next 24 hours, I will be donating a few hundred dollars and spreading it out to many others. With many donating a little..we can make a HUGE difference!

What is The Great Give?

The Great Give is all about the community coming together to help one another in small ways. If enough of us come together, the small turns into big!

Last year, we raised over $600K in 24 hours and this year the goal is 150 participating organizations (we have over 180) and our goal is $1M starting now.

Eye On Annapolis has been a proud partner of The Great Give since it started and we believe in the local community and encourage you to participate in some level.

With 500K residents in the county, it will not take much--$5 here, $10 there. If you can contribute more, please do.

One of the most unique features is that the playing field is evened out in this campaign. Large charities are separated from the small. There are special corporately funded grants throughout the period so even the smallest organizations have a chance to get some big dollars. And to a small non-profit focused on tutoring at risk kids after school--$10K will go a long way. In fact, this year, a charity could win $1000 for just getting people to "attend" a virtual event.

Corporations, businesses, government, and non-profits have all come together to make this day possible. Now, all we need is .....

And if you want to do it in person-- WRNR will be broadcasting live at the Fire Pit in front of Houlihans (Waugh Chapel) for the next hour, and then again tomorrow morning at Grauls Market in Annapolis from 1030am to 1pm. And you can donate on the spot.
