In Vino Veritas
OUR MESSAGE

First there is croquet, and then...let there be wine!

Annapolis is replete with some pretty incredible events. While sometimes that "military school" gets all the attention, we tend to forget all that goes along with St. John's College!

From the Mitchell Gallery (an incredible art gallery), to scholarly readings, performances, the host of the Annual Annapolis Cup croquet match, and the penultimate wine event in the State--In Vino Veritas!

Face it, St. John's is not a school for shallow thinkers and to be honest, neither are their events. It is not about swilling wine. It is about the nuances and procedures that distinguish a fine wine from a poor one.

This is the fourth year, they have brought this event to Annapolis and if you have ANY kind of wine palate, this is YOUR event!

In Vino Veritas!

All the best--

So, what about that name?

"The Latin phrase, In Vino Veritas, or, In Wine There Is Truth, is attributed to the Roman, Gaius Plinius Secundus, a.k.a. Pliny the Elder (23-79 AD). Whatever Secundus meant by the expression, I choose to interpret the words to mean that wine-fine wine, authentic wine-will reveal to us its truth-the unique characteristics of its place of origin, its geography, its geology and climate, its varietal, and the influence of the hand of man..."
