AAMC's Denim & Diamonds - April 29th

Anne Arundel County and the surrounding areas are very fortunate that we have AAMC. It is a world-class facility that is ever expanding to serve the needs of the community.

From the new hospital, to the new ER and Pediatric ER...AAMC is here for each of us in our time of need.

Every year, the hospital's foundation hosts a fundraiser to raise needed funds for a particular program. Each year, the event alternated between being held locally and in Baltimore.

This year, the focus is on mental health. AAMC is looking to expand their services with inpatient as well as outpatient services that can be offered at the time of need!

This year, the event, Denim & Diamonds, returns to Annapolis and will take place on April 29th in a huge tent off Jennifer Road.

We have been a proud sponsor of this event for three years and continue to be glad to do it because the efforts achieved by AAMC are seen right here at home.

I hope you can join me and other neighbors to help fund this much needed service.

The Party

Denim & Diamonds Spring Bash will be held on April 29th from 5:30 PM – 11:00 PM under the big tent adjacent to the Annapolis Exchange on Jennifer Road in Annapolis

Enjoy a fun filled cocktail buffet party featuring fabulous food from a variety of gourmet food trucks and amazing catering from Ken’s Creative Kitchen. Relax and enjoy great entertainment.

The event attire, it is up to you. Throw on your favorite Denims or your best cocktail dress; everything is “in” at Denim & Diamonds.

The Denim & Diamonds Bash event address is the AAMC South Campus – 1997 Annapolis Exchange Parkway, Annapolis, MD 21401.

There will be ample parking available and we will have several attendees on site to assist and guide you on where to park.

The Need

Your support for Denim and Diamonds will directly support AAMC’s efforts to increase mental health services. AAMC’s goal is to offer the right treatment at the right time, and require inpatient admissions only when necessary for the patient. When complete, the campus will provide:
   •   Inpatient mental health care.
   •   A psychiatric partial hospitalization program.
   •   Intensive outpatient programs.
   •   Residential and outpatient substance use services.
   •   Referral and care coordination to community-based treatment and support services.

The Facts

The number of Anne Arundel County residents seeking mental health services increased by 11 percent from 2013-2014.
More than 20% of Kent County middle schoolers and 18.3% of high schoolers reported that they considered attempting suicide within the past 12 months.
In Prince George’s county, there was a 28% increase in ED visits to MD Hospitals for mental health from 2010 to 2014.
In 2014, 56% of Queen Anne’s County patients admitted for mental health were admitted to facilities outside of the Eastern Shore. The majority were admitted to Baltimore County and Baltimore City facilities – approximately a 1 hour drive.
AAMC’s mental health hospital will double Anne Arundel County’s inventory of mental health beds increase the inventory of mental health beds in our region by 33%, significantly improving access and proximity to inpatient mental health care for residents on the Eastern Shore and in Prince George’s County.
